We ask you to stay away from the premises until after our work is complete for a few reasons. The first is for your safety. Your health can be jeopardized in many ways after a accident , death or incident. When the paramedics, medical examiner , coroner and even the police arrive they all do the same thing, they put on there protective gloves, grab the equipment they need, Then they go into the premises and do there job. On exit or completion they leave shutting off lights, closing doors what ever. Now lets assume that the person in the premises had no biohazards at all. We do not know how many scenes the first responders went to in the last 72 hrs. We do however know that after removing a body, working on a body, the body goes into a vehicle then they remove there gloves and go to the next scene. Its safe to say that the door knob of the emergency response vehicle is cross contaminating every scene they go to. We decontaminate the door knobs, light switches and many other places you don't see blood or body fluids. The second reason we ask you to leave is we use some chemicals that are very harsh to the air and also use ozone that can not be applied with anyone in the premises including us.

Frequently Asked Questions

We get this question a lot. So much that we have added a cost page to this site. In most cases the cost associated with the cleanup (decontamination, removal,  medical waste disposal) is no more than your insurance policy deductable. If the cleanup is a result of a violent crime the VOCA fund takes care of it. We also have a fund on our donations page that helps with deductibles.

How much does it cost to cleanup an unattended death?

Why cant I be inside my own house during the decontamination work?

Blood is cleaned in several steps. First we apply an indicator that will tell us if it is indeed a body fluid. Blood takes on many colors and shades with time and is not often red. Next we apply a disinfectant to the blood per the manufacturers recommendations for blood decontamination. This step takes a predetermined amount of time to safely kill the blood. Finally we clean the blood up with absorbent wipes. Sometimes due to porous substrates or crevices we use steam to kill the blood. We have to follow blood seepage until nothing exist to remove the biohazard. After the visible blood has been removed we re-apply indicator to verify or re treat the blood until no blood or body fluid is left. We do this process while wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE).
